A few very special Quartz Crystals separated right before my eyes. It's not that the crystals broke into 2 pieces. They simply released themselves, going from one "whole" crystal to two whole crystals. It was magical. What usually happens with key crystals is that a crystal separates from another leaving an indentation - often hexagonal (the shape of the crystal). Key crystals are often seen, but rare is the moment when a key crystal reveals itself directly and that you get to keep both parts! With these crystals it's not obvious that they are key crystals. If I hadn't seen them separate with my own eyes, I would not have known that the crystals belong together.
There are two separate crystals where there was once a single form, but they are still one.
This spectacular Quartz crystal has been struck by lightning and has been left the gift of a beautiful marking in that spot. Lightning Struck Crystals are a rarity in and of themselves. To have a key crystal that is present is ... well the odds of that are like the chances of being "struck by lightning" : ) The key crystal fits so perfectly into the opening that it created, you may not even realize that they are separate at first. The large crystal holds its key so snugly that they stay together.
This Crystal is approx. 2-1/4"
