The Mermaid Crystal

There is a crystal—a vibrant, beautiful, shiny, sparkling crystal—where I often see mermaids playing.

Doorways to another place

There are crystals which are common portals to beings from other realms. Fairies can always be found in Lightning Struck Crystals, Romanian Obsidian are often home to dragon energy, I see Angel Wings in Seraphinite crystals and mermaids are often seen in Brandberg Amethyst crystals—not just any Amethyst—those in particular. I have come to call them the “Mermaid Crystal”.

That does not mean that you can’t find mermaids splashing into other crystals. I once saw one in an opal and I have a special Lithium Quartz crystal that is home to a mermaid. But I see them most often in the Brandberg Amethyst. Perhaps the mermaids are drawn to their watery presence. Brandbergs sparkle like the sea and they often carry water bubbles (which are called enhydro crystals).

Temptation

When the Mermaid Crystals started singing for me, I didn’t realize how perfect their timing was. At the beginning of every year, I pull tarot cards. One of the cards that showed up for me this time was “Temptation”. I could have easily dismissed it. I was not currently grappling with addiction and as a Virgo, I have some serious will power.

I have come to understand how perfect that card was. I’d been working on pulling back in the energy I’ve been scattering in so many directions so that I can focus on what’s most important. I guess I have an issue with temptation after all…it turns out I have “shiny object syndrome”—who knew there was a name for it.

Shiny Objects

I have something in common with my mermaid friends who also love shiny objects—except for them it’s literal shiny objects. Actually, add literal shiny objects to all the other things that dazzle me too.

Mermaids are wonderful at finding those shiny baubles. Their under-the-sea treasures were once buried in slime and crusted over time. The mermaids clean and polish them up, revealing their sparkle and beauty, to add to their collections. It’s a beautiful metamorphosis. A sublime transformation.

Siren’s Song

They say the call of the siren is irresistible. They pull us into the depths of our deepest desire. Mermaid came in through the crystals to take me out of temptation and focus on the undeniable, irresistible call of my soul’s song.

When we don’t know what that call is—our soul’s song—the mermaid crystal can help us to uncover our deepest desire and highest purpose. They whispered into my heart:

“Our song is so compelling, so irresistible because it is an echo of your soul’s deepest desire.”

So in a sense, the temptation is also the medicine. The pull is not the issue. The issue is that we’ve buried our desire so deep that we can no longer hear our heart’s song. So our energy scatters in all the directions because the thing we are really searching for is in the one place we’re not looking.

The mermaid crystals show us how to excavate the hidden treasure that is our soul’s purpose. And to then bring out the shine from our dusty dreams the way they restore their slimy baubles.

The anti-nightmare crystal

When I walk with a Soul Journey Stone, I like to go deep with them. I co-create a Star Song with one of my Brandberg Mermaid Crystals. Star Songs are my version of a crystal elixir (water infused with crystal energy).

Last night I had a disturbing  nightmare. While I was recording a YouTube video about the Mermaid Crystals, I suddenly understood that even though the dream was disturbing, I wasn't as shaken as I normally would be. I was still affected, but it didn’t hit me as hard—my reaction was diffused. I attribute that to the magic of the Brandberg Mermaid Crystal.

I realized something else about mermaids. While we often portray them as whimsical, sweet, and colorful—full of light and rainbows—mermaids live in the deepest, darkest parts of the ocean. They swim through that vast, open underwater world where there is nowhere to hide. And this is part of their magic.

Mermaids are graceful, and beautiful and sensuous and they will certainly share that energy with us if we wish it. But they dwell in the dark. The darkness is not a bad place. In fact, it’s where we will find where we have buried our deepest secrets and desires. It’s a scary place but just as they have led us there, the mermaid crystals will guide us through the dark. They can see quite well there and they will show us the way.
