Keeping your cool with crystals

We are at the peak of the summer season and this summer has been a hot one for many of us—all over the world. Extreme heat waves have come with warnings to stay indoors and keep cool.

Crystals can help us to keep our cool.

The blues

Choose blue stones if you want to tap into the cooling and refreshing energy of water. Aquamarine or Larimar connect us to the cool waters of the ocean. We can feel into the freshness of the wind moving through the skies with Celestite. River Topaz can connect us to the clearing movement of the rivers.

Stones that hold water can also help us to cool down. When I tuned in to listen to which crystals were singing for us, I felt the call of Brandberg Amethyst Crystals. Their sparkling clarity reveal their watery presence. Many of them carry bubbles of moving liquid—but even those who don’t have visible water, hold the energy of water. You can feel it quite powerfully.

The hots

It’s not just hot temperatures these stones can help us with, it’s hot tempers. The crystals—these blue ones and others—can help us to keep our cool when emotions flare up. Crystals like Lithium Quartz can soothe us into a gentle calm and heart stones like rose quartz or pink calcite can help us to dissolve anger by tuning into the frequency of love.

Fight Fire with Fire

But then again, sometimes the hottest stones—the ones with the most fire—are the ones who will know best how to handle the heat. While the blue stones can cool you, the fiery stones can show you how to withstand the heat. Finding ways to cool down is really only just one way to deal with the heat, there is another choice. We can learn how to BE in the heat.

The stone beings can show us the power of accepting and allowing the heat without resistance. Perhaps even welcoming it and being present in the experience of the high temperatures. Besides, the resistance only makes us hotter.

It may be that a gift will arise from moving through the discomfort. Whether that’s finding creative ways to cool down or finding the resilience to withstand and perhaps even adjust the body to a temperature that it is not accustomed to. We can learn a lot about our ability to adapt and sometimes even thrive during extreme environmental shifts.

Unexpected medicine

I have found myself turning to agate over the past weeks as we were moving through the heat waves. I didn’t consciously look for a stone to help me deal with the extreme temperatures. I just found myself holding them and keeping them close by. It’s only now as I write this post that I realize that they came forward to help me to keep my cool.

The stones guided me to them and shared their medicine. It didn’t matter if I knew the reason for their presence or not. But now that I am aware of their gift, I imagine that the relief will come even sooner and be even more potent.

The best ones

There are many stones that can offer relief. Agate happened to be the one singing for me. Trust yourself and listen to the stones that call to you. The stones that you are most drawn to will be the best ones.

Remember that working with crystals for heat relief works best as part of a holistic approach that includes proper hydration, seeking shade, and using conventional cooling methods when necessary. Think of crystals as supportive allies in your toolkit for thriving during challenging weather, not as replacements for practical heat safety measures.
