Inspired by a friend who just lost a dear family member, Carnelian and Black Obsidian stones began to sing a duet. The come forth to offer comfort and support during a great loss. They soften sorrow.

One of these duets shared its energetic gift through a crystal blessing. You may receive it by clicking on the play button below:

Carnelian vibrates to the number 5 and 6, Astrological sign of Taurus, Cancer, Leo. Carnelian is a gem of the earth, a symbol of strength and beauty of our planet. Its message is one of love. Carnelian stimulates a deeper love and appreciation for the beauty and gifts of the earth. It has grown and evolved with the human race and can teach one to carve out a unique place in life and how to utilize personal power in the physical world. Carnelian will draw in light for its own purposes and reflect back the depth of colour of our own physical world. It has been used to see into the past by those who have the knowledge. Carnelian protects against envy, fear and rage from both within and without. It helps to banish sorrow and can be used to dispel indifference, lethargy, laziness and procrastination. It is a stone for harmonious energy in the home. It is a stimulating stone for both mind and creative energy - especially the theatrical arts. The ancient Egyptians found it to be an ideal stone to use as seals as wax does not easily stock to it. Carnelian was also used in ancient burial practices.

Obsidian is a very, very special stone. It is not a true mineral. It is actually a volcanic glass that forms when molten lava cools too rapidly to crystallize. It consists mostly of Silicon Dioxide. Obsidian's sharp nature made it a stone of choice in making blades and arrowheads for Stone Age cultures. Polished Obsidian was used to create the earliest mirrors. We can learn a lot about a stone's metaphysical properties by looking at its physical properties. Being such a sharp stone, Obsidian may be a source of support in releasing attachments to things in our lives which are no longer part of who we truly are. Obsidian may be helpful in moving forward in the gentlest possible way. I suppose that is why it is often given to those who are grieving. As a naturally reflective stone, Obsidian can help us to really look at ourselves.

These stones are approximately 1-1/2". One of these duets has a faceted carnelian and tumbled obsidian (3/4" and 1") - if you have a preference, let me know and I'll try to accommodate you. Otherwise, I will listen for the duet that is singing for you.
