This beautiful Patchouli (Pogostemon Cablin) Essential Oil from India has been made in the age old "traditional" method of steam distillation in copper degs. This is an oil that we are super excited to be offering! Most of us have experience with non-aged patchouli, and even the highest grade of artisan distilled fresh patchouli is very strong smelling and has to be extremely diluted for any kind of balanced blending. Some people think that patchouli gives them a headache, and this is usually a signal that they are still not diluting enough! A usable dilution of high quality patchouli is about 1 to 6 drops of essential oil in a 1 ounce bottle for those of us who are sensitive.
This oil is very different from the others for one simple reason: It has been aged over 5 years. Patchouli mellows more beautifully the longer it is aged. By aging this oil before offering it to the market, this distiller is offering a gift that is normally reserved for the friends and family of the farmer/distiller, and not usually available at any price on the market. If you have not used patchouli in the past, I would encourage a trial of this rare and special oil.
