There is a story about a special Golden Opal Stone being that I'd like to share with you. One that is important to understanding the special magic of this stone and all the stone beings. I have a very special tumbled Stone that I received many years ago. It has been among my most favorites. I had a very special connection to it. Whenever I connect with a stone in this way, I want to share it with others. I tried for years to find out what it was and to get more. I showed the stone to so many people and nobody knew what it was. I finally reconnected with the person who I got the stone from originally, by "fluke", and she told me it was chrysopal, a type of brecchiated opal.

This is the original stone:

The amazing thing is that while I was taking photos of my tumble stone, I also happened to pull out some golden opals that were singing to me. I have had these golden opals here for a very long time and they hadn't called to me in all that time - until just then. While I was taking the pictures, I started to notice a similarity between the mystery stone and the golden opals. The question arose in my mind ... could they be???? I placed my stone with the opals and I was amazed. They were the same. And when my friend confirmed that my original tumble stone was indeed opal, there was no doubt. It was not EXACTLY the same type of opal - but they were both Golden Opals!!! Amazing how the stones can guide you and show you things so simply and so easily. I'd been searching everywhere for this stone and I had it here all along!

Opal is a magical stone. The golden colour of these beautifully tumbled stones will reach deep into the power center of your being. I feel the support of these stone beings rise around me like a shield. It’s not a shield of protection. It’s a field of support. They whisper their song to me. They reveal something in that song. They show me something within I didn’t know I had. Courage. Courage not to conquer my fears but to embrace them. If you would like to hear their song, you can choose that option in the drop down menu below.

Opal is in harmony with the number 8 and is the Elemental Astrological Signs of Cancer, Libra, Pisces & Scorpio. The cause of precious opal's colour was a mystery until the discovery of the electron microscope. It was then found that opal was composed of a great number of tiny 3 dimensional stacked spheres of silica. The cavities between the spheres can cause light to be divided into the spectral colours. Opal without colour contains spheres which are not of orderly size or stacking. Opal can amplify our traits and characteristics, providing motivation for our positive traits to prevail. It helps us to tap into our creativity and imagination. Opal allows us to be spontaneous and true to our feelings. With Opal we can feel more deeply and release our inhibitions. It can be used to strengthen our memory and to instill faithfulness and loyalty. Opal is known as a "stone of happy dreams and changes". Opal can awaken and help us to understand our psychic and mystical qualities. Opal has been used by the Native American Indian and Australian Aboriginal shamans to invoke visions. Opal which has fire (spectral colour) can be used to encourage flashes of intuition and insight.

Opal can be used to assist us in becoming "invisible" in circumstances where we do not wish to be noticed. It brings a quality of "fading into the background" when the energy is so directed. I wanted to see this "invisible" aspect of opal so I tried an experiment with an Oregon Opal and a blue Peruvian Opal. I placed them in a bowl of water and waited to see what happened. I discovered that the opals did indeed disappear into the water. They blended into the water so well, I really thought that they were gone for a moment or two. It took several days for them to return to their original colours when I took them out of the water. Actually my Blue Peruvian Opal was never quite the same afterwards.
