Breathe easier with these 3 crystals
I've heard of winter whiteouts, but I didn't know they could happen in the summer... in the sky.
This week I woke up to a sky that felt alien. The familiar blue was gone. The world above me had turned white.
It wasn't cloud.
It was wildfire smoke.
The air felt heavy. Breathing felt laboured.
It was eerie not seeing the familiar blue and white above. Even grey skies streaked with dark clouds would have felt more comforting. Sadness was easier to meet than breathlessness.
What surprised me most wasn't what happened after that. It was everything that had happened before.
Coffee and Copper
A day or two before the smoke wafted in over the city, my husband came home with an unexpected gift.
Coffee beans.
It was as though the Universe had quietly whispered into his ear, offering a remedy before the need had arrived.
Without really knowing why, I paired the coffee with copper and created a Star Song. Only afterward did I look up the energetic properties of coffee and copper and discovered that both have an affinity for supporting the respiratory system.
The Universe had been speaking to me, too.
Even before the coffee arrived, I had felt a gentle nudge to wear my orange dress and orange scarf, and to eat carrots. I knew orange could soothe a body in shock, though I had no idea what was coming.
Over the years I've learned to trust these quiet whispers, even when they make no logical sense. Once again, I was reminded that the soul often knows what's coming long before the mind catches up.
These stones were singing
As the smoke settled over us, I called in crystals to soften the effects of the wildfires—not only for myself, but for everyone breathing beneath the same sky.
I listened for the stones that were singing.
Soon I was in the crystal room, gathering them one by one. I became completely absorbed in the movement. Hours slipped away unnoticed. Time seemed to dissolve.
When I finally stopped, these were the crystals resting in my hands.
Hematite
When iron is exposed to oxygen, it oxidizes, giving birth to Hematite. Through the very process of its creation, one of Earth's strongest metals is transformed. Hematite carries the strength of iron alongside the ethereal essence of oxygen.
It teaches us how to draw upon an iron will while remaining soft enough to feel safe, supported, and held. It encourages us to reach for the sun without becoming attached to the outcome. It is a stone of balance—mind, body, and spirit moving together.
Hematite's outer form is black, yet its inner essence is red. When cut, it leaves behind a vivid crimson powder.
It bleeds.
A quiet reminder that unseen creative energy exists long before it takes physical form.
Hematite is also known for helping the body remain cool and for dispersing excess heat on the physical level.
Of course it had arrived.
Anthracite
Anthracite Coal crystals are rare—not because they are difficult to find, but because they are rarely recognized as healing stones within metaphysical circles.
You won't discover the fullness of their medicine in a crystal encyclopedia.
These are mystical mirrors, holding extraordinary reserves of energy. They embody power itself.
Think about what coal has carried throughout history.
Steam engines.
Industry.
Transformation.
When I think of coal, I see strong arms shovelling dark stones into blazing furnaces. Blackened hands. Faces marked with soot. Fire.
Sometimes the medicine for fire is fire.
Light Bud
These soft, frosted stones glow with a gentle inner radiance.
So much light contained within something so small.
They sing of light.
They remind us that an extraordinary light already lives within each of us. The gift of Light Buds is to awaken our awareness of it, encouraging us to let it shine and, in doing so, quietly illuminate those around us.
To me, they feel like seeds.
Seeds of light.
They plant something within us that continues growing long after we put the crystal down. Just as a seed unfolds in its own season, the light within us expands in its own perfect timing. It already carries everything it needs.
When smoke fills the world and veils the blue sky from view, we can still find our way by the light these crystals have helped us remember.
Copper
And, of course, copper was singing.
Crystallized orange.
Copper is never far from my side. This time it arrived with a deeper purpose: to calm wild, scattered energy and gently guide it into coherence.
It is a harmonizer.
I was breathing easier
I kept these crystals beside me that night.
The next morning brought an ease I couldn't quite explain. Only later did I realize I had been breathing more freely.
My wish for you
Breathe easy.
Be well.
And remember the crystals whenever you need energetic support. The stones who were singing to me are not the only ones who can help. Listen for the whispers. Listen for the guidance of the Universe.
It is always speaking. So are the stones.
