Protection

One of the first things we do as light workers, energy healers, and empaths is to protect ourselves from dissonant energies. As sensitive souls, we are tuned into the subtle energies of the universe. It is why we are able to sense where healing is needed. It is how we know when angels are present. It is how we tap into universal wisdom and guidance. We feel everything with greater intensity and that includes the dissonant energies in the Universe. It doesn’t take a sensitive person long to learn how to protect themselves because the experience of those heavier energies is painfully uncomfortable.

Surround yourself with Golden Light

There are many ways in which you can protect yourself. You can imagine yourself in a pink bubble. You can surround yourself with golden light. You can call in protection from your guides. And of course a favourite method of protection is to create a grid or light matrix with crystals.

 

Well known crystals for protection include:

 

Pyrite

Pyrite comes from the ancient Greek word for fire. It symbolizes the warmth and lasting presence of the sun, representing the sun’s golden energy. Having a piece of pyrite on ones person brings in the protective shielding aspect of this stone which works on the physical, etheric, and emotional levels. It can help to keep out pollutants at the physical level, due to an energy field which it creates within the aura. It also acts as sort of a reverse shield, allowing us to see through the facades that others put up. It is a unique protector and is an excellent stone to keep in ones possession when performing dangerous work. Pyrite is one of the most grounding stones in use today. Pyrite is intellectually stimulating and is used for focus, practicality, logic, memory, scatteredness.


Black Tourmaline:

Black Tourmaline is a staple stone for many crystal healers, psychics and empaths as it is well known as a protective ally. I have always been fascinated with Tourmaline's "attractive" properties and always invite their energies in when I'm attracting something new into my life, or releasing something that is "sticky”. In the case of protection, you can call on it to release any stuck or blocked toxic frequencies that are draining your energy.

Hematite:

Hematite is incredibly shiny and reflecting. It was used to make mirrors in ancient times. This reflective attribute enables Hematite to cast back negative impressions that have external origins while, at the same time, providing inner strength. It can help us to see what is ours and what is not, where we need to personally grow and make changes and what is being imposed from other's expectations and demands. Hematite can serve as protection against negativity or lower frequency environments. Hematite can be placed under the pillow and acts like a shield of armour, defending and protecting so that strength can be drawn from inner resources. It can help to ease the strain created from an overactive mind while it redirects its grounding force into the body so that it can have a peaceful rest.

Shiva Shells:

Operculum aka Shiva Shell is the name given to the door (plate or shield) of a certain type of Snail's shell which serves as protection from predators and from physical and chemical stresses. When they are sealed into their shell sanctuary, they are also protected against dehydrating during drought and dry weather. You can take a cue to its spiritual properties from its physical properties ... a natural shield and protection from many elements ... a doorway/portal to the ethereal realms - you get the idea. They may even share their secrets to keeping hydrated for moist, youthful skin. The natural Fibonacci spiral that is present on the one side accompanied by the "cats eye" on the other side links them to the 3rd eye. If you're working on opening the 3rd eye, you may find this being to be a most helpful guide. This shell would also be a great ally when working with water energy.

 

Obsidian:

Obsidian is a very, very special stone. It is not a true mineral. It is actually a volcanic glass that forms when molten lava cools too rapidly to crystallize. It consists mostly of Silicon Dioxide. Obsidian's sharp nature made it a stone of choice in making blades and arrowheads for Stone Age cultures. Polished Obsidian was used to create the earliest mirrors. We can learn a lot about a stone's metaphysical properties by looking at its physical properties. Being such a sharp stone, Obsidian may be a source of support in releasing attachments to things in our lives which are no longer part of who we truly are. That is why they make such beautiful stones of protection. With them you can cut any ties to energies that are not invited into your life. Obsidian is also helpful in moving forward in the gentlest possible way.
